Nov 7 2010 - Closing for a while |
Unfortunately, we'll be closing VF1 to the public for the months of November and December... we plan to come back to busineess in January to continue with further development of the concept, and hopefully with great surprises for everyone. As for now we're consulting for our business site back in Chile. We'll post some news of our development here, as well as future plans for Vancouver.

We're closing at Rush on Oct 3 2010, we have to go back to Chile for a couple of months to arrange some paperwork we need for our stay in Canada. There's a slim chance that we might not be able to open again, but we're trying our best to keep the concept viable for Canada, as long as we find the right people to support us in this venture.
We'll keep everyone posted on news and development for the project, but in the short term, VF1mOTORSPORTS will be closed to the general public for a few months until further notice.

Sept 21 2010 - Blackwood's Fastest Championship Cancelled |
Sadly we didn't got enough signups for the weekend's championship, so the championship as it was planned will not go. Those who prepaid the signup fee will get a refund and will be issued a pass for Sat 25. For everyone willing to come play, the pass will be $30, and it;s valid for the day its bought.
There will be no 2nd tier races, but if the participants are here before 6:00pm, the 20 lap championship race will happen anyways as planned.

On a single race, after racing with us a few times before, Cici Wu makes it to pos 39 on the Formula XR at Blackwood ranking, making her the first canadian girl to make it to the ranking with a proper racetime. Congratulations, and we hope to see her improve in the future.
We also have a new top 10 threat, Josh Manalo got a top 20 place on his first race... with a motorsports background, he poses a real threat to the top 10 holders in the future.

South City is closing the streets to celebrate 4 of the winners of this championship, wich means, 4 of the winners of this championship will be invited to a 1 time 18 lap race at South City Chicane Route, to be held this following tuesday september 28 at 8:00pm.

This Sunday September 19 is the last day for the signup process to the Blackwood's Fastest Championship. Be sure to come by and prepay the entry fee before this day.

A few days ago, Adam Tran joins the small group of people able to get below the 1:12.00 mark. With a best personal lap of 1:11.71, he gets to the highest tier level of competition, alongside with Christian Sepulveda and Terrence Tung. Congratulations.
Our experience has shown that people among the 1:11s have achieved enough experience on the track, and with the car, to offer a level of competition close to the one achieved by a professional race driver... wich means racing against them is extremely intense and exiting, if you manage to keep up with them

Terrence Tung does it again... we have a new 1st place at blackwood with 12.05.13, Terrence storms the ranking taking the first place, and also bragging rights for defeating me on a fair race.
Sorry for taking so long to update, the computers were acting up, and we're setting them up for a quick race mode, wich is going to be $5, and it's 6 laps on Tokyo Ring (oval) with 1 lap of qualifying. Its going to be a great way for people to try the cockpit for the first time, and get some feeling about true competitive racing.

Coming up again with our current plans, as we announced a while ago, by the end of september, and that will be now, Saturday September 25, at 5:00pm. An invitation will be issued to the top 8 drivers of the FOX BL1 Ranking.
The race will be held at Blackwood in the afternoon, a 20 laps grand prix, after a two tier standard 10 lap qualifying race to determine fastest racetimes. Sorry for taking so long to announce it officially on the webpage, but as promised, we brought the 2 new compact VF1 simulation cockpits to the floor on Sept 3.
The reaction we've had until now has been great, some even like the small simulators better than the big ones for some reason, and 4 driver races are starting to happen. This is really exiting as more and more people get to know us, we might have big news coming soon, so be sure to come by and check the new additions to VF1mOTORSPORTS in Richmond.

Seats are in place, and the subwoofer position we think it's going to be set behind the seat, just like the 1st generation RESC, it will produce a more even sound as we're using only a 2.1 system, and it will create a nice effect just like the other ones did.
We had to lower the monitor position by 2 inches... it was way too high, as we finally got to try the real seating position, its real tight, but it feels great.

It might not look like much has been done, but there's actually a lot of progress there... so much in fact that the cat already tries to get a race on them. All the panels are ready to be fitted as they were already in place for the bolting, they are out now because all the detailing and electronics installation can't happen with the panels on. On that cockpit you can already see the drivers position with the wheel and the screen.
Tomorrow we're picking up the seats, and wednesday they'll be ready for the vinyl design.

It's the Gigaworks T3 for the audio system, the Logitech Driving Force GT for the wheel, and a W2242PA 24 inch LG Flatron Panel.
Fitting the electronics will start today, so next picture from the cockpit will have some of the components fitted inside, and then the paneling. The plan is to have the cockpit completely covered, detailed and with the main vinyl design done by the end of the weekend. The seats will arrive on tuesday or wednesday, and we're set for the weekend!!... stay tuned for awesome specials until next week!.

The panels will be ready soon!, that means the cockpits are on schedule for the weekend... and good news!!!, the electronics are sorted out, so is the seat!
We'll be using OMP non FIA seats, 24 inch widescreen LCD, Proper HiFi 2.1 audio system, and the Force GT as a steering wheel. We are really exited since we were able to get the components we wanted for the cockpit, and the results will be amazing.

Both bases are ready, properly carpeted and over casters, they're set to accomodate the cockpit frame. The frames are already painted and ready to get the panels cut for them. cockpits are still on schedule, but the electronics are still on queue, so we'll have a slight delay as the cockpits will be ready by the weekend, and the electronics won't be coming until next week.
One thing i can tell you tho, we'll be using speakers, not headphones, it's going to be tricky having the subwoofer behind the screen, but we'll figure out something.

The semicockpits are being manufactured on schedule... you can see both frames now, and for those having troubles picturing the design, where Marianne is right there, is basically where you'll be while driving... the seat will be where that chair is, and the same for the other one. The opening to her left, is where you get inside the semicockpits.
Tomorrow we hope they'll be painted and ready for detailing... in a few days we'll see them with the paneling, and by the end of the weekend we should have the panel design for VF1.

That's the full frame right there, at the right side, you can see an opening where there's no bar, that's the entrance where the seat is, all the rest is covered by panels. if you're having troubles picturing the design, you can see in the middle a flat plate... that's where the steering wheel goes, and the seat goes at the right. The left side is the computer unit cabinet, wich is completely enclosed. (click to enlarge or comment)
Until the new cockpits are ready, we'll be opening slightly later than usual, 7:00pm to 1:00am is our temporary opening hours for now.

What you see in the picture is the actual frame of the semicockpit, you can appreciate already how tall it is, and that is because our design, unlike every other smicockpit out there, it's semiclosed aswell. The cockpit in the picture is upside down, those two bars don't go on the top, there's only 1 bar on the top right side, and then another one is lower so you can get inside.
We can't make Aug 27 anymore, we were unable to get some of the components in time, so Sept 3 is the new official release date.

The Cat there says that he's not letting these cockpits to be taken away from him like the big ones did... he still claims they are his, since he used to reign at the Simcenter back in Chile...
Now, that is the actual material for the semicockpits, that means the construction process starts today, for now, everything is on schedule for august 27th. The frame is the first thing we're going to build, we're a bit concerned about the width, its a bit narrow for the design... but we'll see how it turns out.

The Order is out!, the materials will be ready tomorrow and production will start as soon as soon as possible. The frame dimensions and design is already set, we estimate that over the weekend at least the frame of both prototypes will be finished, and then we'll be able to start detailing, and setting up the electronics.
We haven't decided yet wich way we go for the electronics, but we'll keep everyone posted on any changes we make.

It's official, we are on the process of bringing the new 2 semcockpits to the race floor. Those very "motorsporty" blueprints there have the dimensions and basic shape of the new semicockpit prototypes, and we're in the process of acquiring the material and components to bring them to you as soon as possible.
I can't say for sure, but a tentative date to introduce the cockpits would be august 27th. This is very exiting and more news will follow during the week

Well, it's not really new, it's been there for a while, we just didn't announced it right away. There's a lot of people from our business in chile, so expect some spanish comments from them, don't be scared, many of em will understand english if you comment on their posts.

The control system is pretty much 100% functional, so we're going to move to the next stage of the development plan... build more.
Because of our limited budget for now, we'll be building semi cockpits, that means the inner part of the cockpit, without the closing hatch. Also, the components are going to be a bit cheaper and smaller. This might not look so good, but our aim at the moment is build 2 more real soon and another 2 not far from now. to introduce the real feature of our system.... serious competition.

It's sad to see a car without an owner, and this one has been sitting there in a garage with no owner in sight, since the original launch was going to be at Visions, but never happened.

July 25 2010 - Richmond's first 1:11 for blackwood!! |
Terrance Tung made it personal, faster than average on the first tryouts, he improved quickly and achieved Richmond's first 1 minute 11 seconds on our standard Blackwood race. The official time is 1:11.78, on what whas probably the 7th or 8th race.
He joins now, a select group, able to race on FE1, for a little bit more exitement, on this dangerously poor mantained track. As soon as we get more racers to achieve stability on the FOX, we'll open up the ranking.

July 21 2010 - Patrick Chan Joins VF1 Professional |
It's about time we announced the winners of the launch weekend. Patrick Chan was awarded the subscription and the Rush Car, wich qualifies him for VF1 Professional Championships, we'll be posting the official welcome pictures on the gallery very soon, and we welcome our very first Canadian car to the Track!
2nd and 3rd place were awarded to Jackson Chan and Mario Kwong respectively, they both were awarded a monthly subscription aswell, but no car yet.

I love that car... a homage to Alvaro Gonzales, we miss you man!... i just had to take it out for a spin, and now it's going into a limited edition single race ticket, i'll post more pictures when it's printed.. This car belongs to one of our very first VF1 fans, he joined us during the initial testing in 2006 when we were literally, playing on the ground. He was awarded this car in a championship held for my 28th birthday, and now... a legend in our company records.

July 18 2010 - We're Officially in business |
Testing is over, our demo stand is fully operational right now, and we're taking races all week monday to sunday from 4:00pm until rush closes, 1:00am on weekdays and 2:00am friday and saturday.
Standard pricing applies from now on, so don't forget to bring your tickets those lucky enough to get some during the launch. Everyone is really exited about this new concept coming into town... we need to turn it into a racing lounge soon, so come and show us your support!

The ranking for the track everyone has been racing for the past few days is up and running with the latest and fastest race times, check it out here, or on the link on the side labeled FOX BL1, wich Stands for Formula XR, Blackwood GP.
We'll be updating the times daily at night after we've closed, so you'll be able to check your times next day from your best race.

July 13 2010 - We have a new old website! |
Its funny but true, this is our new website, wich uses the really really old layout from our original Virtual Formula 1 league website, the roots of the VF1mOTORSPORTS name. It evolved later to the website of the picture from the Chilean VF1mOTORSPORTS simcenter, and now it comes back as the VF1mOTORSPORTS canada to once again, rewrite the concept of competitive racing simulation with the world's first RESC Racing Lounge.
